Course description

THE WORKSHOP
Effective financial management is central to institutional performance, responsible resource allocation, and sustainable service delivery. Organizations must connect financial planning with operational priorities, maintain reliable records, control expenditure, and demonstrate how funds contribute to results. As financial transactions and reporting increasingly move to digital platforms, finance professionals also need the skills to assess new systems, protect financial information, and maintain effective controls.
This is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and contemporary approaches to managing institutional finances. It brings together finance professionals, institutional managers, auditors, and other officials responsible for financial decisions, oversight, and reporting to examine the relationship between sound financial management, digital innovation, and accountability.
Under the theme, “Advancing Financial Excellence Through Strategic Financial Management, Digital Innovation, Transparency, and Fiscal Accountability,” the workshop explores financial planning, budget implementation, cash flow management, expenditure control, financial reporting, and internal control systems.
Through expert-led sessions, practical exercises, case studies, and professional discussions, participants will explore common financial management challenges and develop workable responses suited to their institutional environments.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
explain the principles of strategic financial management, transparency, and fiscal accountability;
identify approaches to aligning financial plans and resource allocation with institutional priorities;
apply practical techniques for budget implementation, cash flow management, and expenditure control;
interpret financial statements and performance reports to support informed management decisions;
assess how digital accounting systems, electronic payments, and automated workflows can improve financial operations;
