Course description
THE WORKSHOP
The Advanced Workshop on Population Analytics, Policy Planning, and Development Strategy is a capacity-building program designed to strengthen the ability of governments, development institutions, planning agencies, and policy makers to utilize population data and demographic intelligence as strategic tools for national planning and sustainable development. As countries face growing challenges related to urbanization, migration, youth populations, aging demographics, service delivery demands, and resource constraints, the effective use of population analytics has become essential for evidence-based decision-making and long-term development planning.
The workshop brings together policy makers, planners, statisticians, demographers, economists, development practitioners, researchers, and public sector leaders to explore modern approaches to population analysis and development planning.
Through expert-led sessions, practical case studies, applied analytical exercises, and interactive discussions, the program highlights key areas including demographic analysis, population forecasting, census data utilization, spatial planning, population-resource dynamics, social and economic indicators, policy modeling, and evidence-based decision-making systems. Participants will explore the use of modern analytical tools and technologies to strengthen planning processes and improve the effectiveness of development interventions.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- analyze and interpret population and demographic data to support evidence-based policy and development planning;
- utilize population analytics and forecasting techniques to anticipate future service delivery, infrastructure, and development needs;
- integrate demographic intelligence into national, regional, and sectoral planning frameworks;
- apply population data to improve resource allocation, budgeting, and public investment decision-making;
- develop strategies that address the implications of urbanization, migration, youth populations, and demographic change;
