Course description

THE WORKSHOP
Procurement policies establish the framework for accountability, competition, and value for money. However, achieving procurement excellence requires professionals who can translate these policies into sound decisions, effective processes, and measurable results. From identifying institutional needs and evaluating suppliers to managing contracts and monitoring delivery, each stage of the procurement cycle demands practical expertise, commercial judgement, and coordinated action.
The Procurement in Practice Workshop (PPC 2027) is designed to bridge the gap between procurement policy and operational practice. Scheduled for Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, the workshop brings together procurement professionals, institutional leaders, contract managers, and other stakeholders to examine approaches to improving procurement performance across public and private sector organizations.
The conference examines procurement as an integrated cycle connecting needs assessment, planning, market analysis, sourcing, tendering, contract execution, and performance evaluation. Particular attention will be given to aligning procurement decisions with organizational priorities, improving supplier relationships, managing procurement risks, and using digital systems to support transparency and efficiency.
Through expert-led presentations, practical case studies, and interactive discussions, participants will explore common procurement challenges and workable responses. The workshop will provide a platform for exchanging professional experiences and developing approaches that improve compliance, reduce avoidable delays, support effective contract delivery, and generate sustainable value throughout the procurement lifecycle.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
explain the principles and processes underpinning effective end-to-end procurement;
identify practical approaches to translating procurement policies into efficient and compliant operations;
assess institutional needs and supplier markets to inform procurement planning and strategic sourcing;
apply appropriate methods for tender preparation, bid evaluation, and supplier selection;
use contract management techniques to monitor delivery, address performance gaps, and manage contractual risks; and
examine how e-procurement systems improve workflow, transparency, record management, and accountability.
