HE WORKSHOP
When these functions operate in isolation, institutional plans may fail to reflect actual needs, research findings may remain unused, and statistical reports may offer limited support for management action. Integrating these functions is therefore essential to translating government policies into achievable program and measurable results.
The 2027 Strategic Research & Statistics Workshop is specially designed to deepen the professional capabilities of officials responsible for institutional planning, applied research, statistical analysis, and performance assessment. The workshop examines how Planning, Research and Statistics departments can provide the evidence, analytical insight, and strategic direction needed to support effective public administration.
The workshop explores strategic and operational planning, research design, data collection, statistical analysis, performance measurement, and the communication of findings. Particular attention will be given to aligning institutional plans with government priorities, connecting planned activities with available resources, improving data quality, and using research and statistics to assess progress and inform policy and program adjustments.
Through expert-led sessions, practical exercises, case studies, and professional discussions, participants will examine approaches to addressing gaps in institutional planning and evidence use. The workshop will equip officials to formulate realistic plans, conduct decision-relevant research, interpret statistical information, and present findings that support management action.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
explain the integrated roles of planning, research, and statistics in public policy, institutional management, and service delivery;
assess institutional needs, existing performance, and emerging trends to inform strategic priorities;
develop strategic and operational plans aligned with government policies, institutional mandates, and available resources;
design applied research studies using appropriate methods, sampling techniques, and data collection instruments;
apply statistical techniques to analyze data, interpret findings, and generate insights for institutional decisions;
formulate performance indicators and targets for monitoring program and evaluating results; and
prepare evidence-based reports and policy briefs that communicate findings and recommend practical improvements.
